The Mears Brothers are American songwriters. Brothers Thomas James Mears (born March 2, 1954), James Joseph Mears (born December 24, 1958) and John Basil Mears (born March 31, 1960) in Racine, Wisconsin, United States, were inspired by many musical sources from an early age. The trio had limited musical success recording and touring under the band name ERIN along with lead guitarist Don Carls in the 1970's and 1980"s, releasing one album "Just off the Mississippi Queen". In 1988, the Mears Brothers moved to Nashville and almost immediately signed their first publishing deal with Loose Ends Music. To date they have written more than 300 songs and as of 2012 have released a total of 4 albums. They’ve had two top 10 indie hits in the U.S., “I believe in Angels” reaching #7 and “Long line of Blue Collar” peaking at #10. Both songs are from the Mears Brothers 2010 release “COUNTRY COMING ON’”. The Mears brothers song “Blame it on the fact that I’m a man” from their 2009 release WRITE PLACE-WRONG TIME was used in the season 3 soundtrack of the HBO series TRUEBLOOD.
