"Their interactions are buffered with expanses of empty space - no matter how frantically the woodwind belches or the strings grind, balance is maintained. TEIP TRIO are not the first group to import heavy rock elements into free music, but no one else has found a way to lose the weight without losing the edge.", wrote jazz critic Bill Meyer in The Wire after hearing TEIP TRIO's debut. TEIP TRIO is an experimental free improvisation ensemble out of Trondheim, Norway consisting of two electric guitars and an acoustic clarinet. Their sound is referred to as "a musical equivalent of the parable of David versus Goliath", and ranging from quiet, textural ambience, via harmonic and melodic motifs to energetic freak-outs and harsh noise. Jens-Jonas Francis Roberts - clarinet Arne Bredesen - electric guitar Nicolas Leirtrø - electric baritone guitar Their sound contains references to artists such as Supersilent, Puma, Dislocation, Stian Westerhus, Mats Gustafsson and Colin Stetson. Their debut album "TEIP TRIO" was released on Ingebrigt Håker Flaten's Sonic Transmissions Records, January 14th 2022.
