Seminal South Asian music duo T.S. Soundz hail from Chicago, though they have performed all over the world. The duo (Tony Talwar and Sunny Singh) began in the early '90s, mixing traditional Punjabi folk music, popular Hindi film songs and catchy house rhythms. They released several underground mix taps and albums, including: Hindi Remix 1, 2, 3; Bhangra Jockey; Return of the Bhangra Jockey; Chicago Bass; Kick Back 1, 2, 3; Club Vibes Volume 1. Typhoon Asha was their single commercial label effort. Two years in the making, it was released in 2000 to wide critical acclaim. Some of the sampled source material included several local Chicago vocalists and musicians recorded specifically for use on the album. This last release was distributed nationally and allowed T.S.
