Notes from the blog Tonal Ties...singer T.M. Krishna (b.1976) from Chennai (formerly Madras), one of the young top performers in carnatic -or South Indian- raga music. He’s known for his glowing voice and intense performances. As a young child he became acquainted with music through his mother who ran a music school. At the age of twelve he won the prestigious Spirit of Youth Award and from there his performance career really started. Besides being a singer, Krishna is also a music researcher and a writer on music. One of his latest feats is his performance in Margazhi Raagam, a concertfilm that premiered in Indian movie theatres in December 2008.
