T'baby is a young woman that grew up on the streets of downtown Detroit who emerged onto the rap scene in early 2008 with the youtube release of her first song, 'It's So Cold in the D." The song is about a young black woman vying for success in a world that oppresses blacks and women. Her debut release was hailed by music critics as a fresh breath of air in the gangster rap scene with its cunning use of rhyming words and down to earth lyrics. But despite positive critical appraisal the song never succeeded commercially and is only currently available on YouTube. The only reliable personal information about T'baby is posted on her youtube channel; she draws inspiration from rapper Immortal Technique, the book 100 Years of Solitude, and the color orange.
