Szun Waves is a British band formed in 2016 by electronic producer Luke Abbott, Jack Wyllie (Portico) and Laurence Pike (PVT). The three players coming from varying backgrounds, faced some initial challenges, namely successfully coordinating analogue hardware with real-life musicians. With Luke on modular synth, Pike drumming and Wyllie on saxophone, the music is described as ‘a mystical adventure into the realms of free-jazz and shimmering psychedelia’. The group's debut album "At Sacred Walls" was recorded at the studio of British electronic artist James Holden, from which the album takes its name. The album was released on Buffalo Temple records, a label run by Abbott. "New Hymn To Freedom" was released on 31 August 2018 through The Leaf Label.
