Formed by university students from Colchester Institute around 2006, joined by a friend on bass. Sykamore were originally named Access Denied, playing pop punk styled rock songs. The change in name reflected a change in the bands sound towards more of an alternative rock edge, whilst keeping the poppy hooks and punk ethos. Sound has been likened to Paramore but with a distinct British vibe. The band split in mid-2008 due to pressures from full time work and other commitments with the members at university.
