Swords and Horns is William Kyle and Nick Watt. Both born and raised in St. Louis and attended the same high school. Toward the end of their college years, they realized both had been independently recording and composing music consistently since high school, and so figured why not start a band? Their music is influenced by Devendra Banhart, Modest Mouse, Wilco, M. Ward, and Mississippi John Hurt. "Welcome to the Meatgrinder" was recorded in just over a month in Nick's attic in the summer of 2009. And "Old Country" was recorded the following summer.
