Swim Herschel Swim formed in 1989 at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, and split in 1993 after a whirlwind, glorious life. For kids growing up in the Provo area, and for many students at BYU, Swim served as a great ska gateway band. The band brought many bigger ska acts to Utah, including No Doubt, Skankin' Pickle, Dance Hall Crashers, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Aquabats, and more. Along with fellow Provo band Stretch Armstrong (aka Stretsch Armstronng), Swim started a strong local ska movement that lasted for at least the next ten years... (maybe still alive?) Band members included the following: Rod Middleton - Vocals, Trombone (89 - 93) Jon Armstrong - Keyboards (89 - 93) Rich Hilquist - Drums (89 - 91) Pat Campbell - Drums (92 - 93) Kent Carter - Bass (91 - 93) Russ Cluff - Bass (89 - played the first show and helped write Baby Babaar) Jeff Hubbard - Bass (90 - 91) & Guitar (92) Lou Eastman - Guitar (92 - 93) Rick Anderson - Guitar, Vocals (89 - 91) Sam Reisner - Sax (90 - 92) Andy Warr - Sax (92-93) Swim's music is currently hard to come by.
