Information on the band Sweet Sister Sam is sparse. What is known is Sweet Sister Sam was briefly formed in Seattle, WA circa 1991 by lead singer Steve Benito (Heir Apparent), guitarist Kendall Bechtal (Fifth Angel), and keyboardist Randy Gane (founder of Myth with Queensrÿche's Geoff Tate). See the full lineup below. Sweet Sister Sam has a sound that combines elements of progressive metal (Queensrÿche) with early grunge (Temple of the Dog). They never released a full length album, but did produce a sizable catalog of demo songs. Sweet Sister Sam primarily played in the Puget Sound scene, and opened for Queensrÿche on the last few dates of their Building Empires Tour (Spokane and Seattle, possibly Vancouver as well). Despite possessing the incredible vocal talents of Steve Benito, Sweet Sister Sam was never able to break through to the next level. The rise of grunge, both in Seattle and the rest of the United States, also severely limited their ability to grow. The band disbanded after only a short amount of time (date unknown).
