Artist
Melbourne duo Sweet Jean is Alice Keath & Sime Nugent. Their music has ‘gravel and soul’, combining darker and bent folk influences with clap-your-hands, old-school pop sensibilities. They play electric and acoustic guitars, banjo, autoharp and harmonica, with razor-sharp harmonies at the centre of it all. Sweet jean’s debut single “Shiver and Shake” was released in December 2011, and has been getting some great responses around the traps. Produced by John Castle (Megan Washington, Bamboos, The Drones, Vance Joy), the song puts a tropical spin on the macabre Grimm's story of the boy who goes into the world to learn how to fear. It was named as “Single of 2011” on PBS Breakfast, was iTunes Single of the Week, received 5/5 stars on Triple J Unearthed, and to Sime & Alice’s delight and mild bemusement was included alongside The Scissor Sisters and The Flaming Lips in Germany’s Jetzt Magazine’s “Top 5 Songs to Kick Off 2012″. Sweet Jean’s debut album “Dear Departure” has been released in 2013 & is available here: http://sweetjean.bandcamp.com/ “I unashamedly, unequivocally love this song (Shiver & Shake)” 5/5 Dom Alessio, Triple J “Sweet Jean really do stand out from the crowd” ToneDeaf Live Review “If you like Fleet Foxes and I Am Kloot, you will go skipping into the new year with this new discovery.
