Amsterdam-born Susanna Kay is a glam pop singer who already knew she wanted to be a performing artist when she still was a little girl. Not that strange actually, because Susanna is spoon-fed with music and performing. Her mother was an operetta singer and she is the niece of the late soprano Suze van Grootel, whom she is named after. She adored her aunt and learned a lot from her because they spent so much quality time together in Susanna’s childhood and she cherishes the lovely memories she has of that time. In her early teenage years, Susanna made her first steps towards a career as a performing artist. She auditioned for a leading Dutch theater academy and company, and got accepted. At the academy she could focus on acting, dancing and singing. It soon became clear she was a standout in singing, with the result she could take on solo parts in the shows. Even in the shows of the upper grades! During the education she felt the need to explore the fields of singing and acting more so than dancing, leading to her attendance of several professional acting and singing schools successfully, parallel to high school. After finishing high school, Susanna went to University but didn’t put her career on ice however. Next to her study, she worked for several entertainment and casting agencies as a singer, model, dancer, and actress. Once having her MSc.
