Artist
Surrealist Unreal was an avant-garde dark ambient project from Auburn, Maine, United States, founded in 2005 as the solo project of experimental artist Tyler "Hrafn" Noyes. Surrealist Unreal sought to create a variety of new, unique, and thought-provoking soundscapes that fill the mind with vivid imagery and sensation able to relax or heighten awareness. Using a multitude of instruments such as computer programs, guitars, synthesizers, and wind instruments to create auditory landscapes, an album and several unreleased tracks were recorded in mid-2006. Surrealist Unreal was destined to perform only one show, taking place in June 2006 to promote interest in the upcoming production called "The Twilight". Destined to create only one complete album before calling it quits because of changes in artistic outlooks, the artist has presented "The Twilight" 2008 re-release in its entirety for free distribution and listening, a musical compilation narrating the history of the Earth and of Humanity from creation to eventual destruction and recreation. Since 2009, inspired by his learning as Surrealist Unreal and the successful release of a traditionally-styled flute song on the album "L/A COMP" by Jesse Kendall, Tyler "Hrafn" Noyes focuses his musical time on a self-titled solo acoustic project and plays in second small group project with a like-minded folk musician and fiddler.
