Surly Grrly is a Minneapolis-based queercore protest band that likes to have fun while loudly fucking the patriarchy. Their live shows are filled with rage, passion, and politically-driven lyrics addressing bigotry, queerness, and misogyny. With a satisfyingly raw 80's garage punk sound, Surly Grrly uses catchy hooks and tempo changes to rile up a crowd, mixing originals with a variety of bombastic covers. Vocalist Medbh McNamara and guitarist Eloïse Boigenzahn, both multi-instrumentalists, are joined by a rotating cast of band members on bass and drums (most recently, bassist Lou Levy and drummer Kat Hansberry).
