Surf Zombie is a brazilian hardcore punk band from Curitiba, Brasil, formed by Tom (vocals), Mah (bass), Yuri (guitar) and Eric (drums). Being influenced by other bands of the brazilian punk/horror scene - such as DZK, Cólera and Rádio Cadáver - and Hardcore and Straight Edge international harcore bands - such as Champion, Comeback Kid and Propagandhi - Surf Zombie's style is described as a blend of the traditional protest punk lyrics with the more complex melodies present in most hardcore bands. Surf Zombie started off in 2011 when a group of university friends - Mah, Tom, Yuri, and Mini had decided to play some tunes together in a local recording studio just for fun. The band's official birthdate - the day it's been 'formerly' named - is 10/31/2011, a Halloween night when, along with some other friends, they went to a concert of one of the band's main influences, the local horror punk band Rádio Cadáver. A few weeks after the first couple of rehearsals, the small unknown band had been called as a support band in a gig for some better known local bands - they accepted the challenge and Mini, the band's first drummer and originally a bassist, had to learn how to play the drums in one week. With a setlist filled with covers (and just one original song) Surf Zombie had it's first show in a nearly private session just for friends since the gig was a failure with less than 10 tickets sold - most of them sold by the band's then support guitar player, Mah.
