Artist
Superdot has been playing their brand of ska, reggae and rock since the summer of 1993 when Bobby Barnes, Jeremy Abbey, Chris Hooper and a handful of others decided to get together to re-invent the Jamaican Ska styles of the late '60s, '70s and early '80s. Throughout those 15 or so years, the band's line up changed constantly, totaling over 40 members. But the group has been somewhat stable for the past 6 or 7. Superdot has played all over the Detroit area and Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Colorado. In addition, the band has also done a little bit of undocumented work in our neighbor to the south, Windsor, Ontario. Band Members: Bob - Trombone and Vocals Chris - Trumpet and Vocals Doctor 9 - Saxophones and Toasting Keith - Guitar and Vocals Charlie Bongo - Drums and Vocals (when he gets a mic) John - Bass Influences: Each member of superdot offers their own influences to the band's work. Jeremy Abbey (Michigan all-state jazz baritone saxophonist 1996) relies on jazz, Reggae and classic '60's style Jamaican ska for his inspirations. While Bobby looks to bands like The Damned, The Meatmen, Devo, and the two tone ska era end. Keith "guitar face" DePoorter (Michigan all-state jazz guitarist 1996, 1997) borrow heavily from early blues and jazz recordings. Other strong influences in superdots artillery include big band and jump blues, as well as modern pop and rock. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additi
