SUPERCANCER is a 3-piece noise-pop outfit started in late 2010 by Paul Melis on guitar and voice. Julian Brookstone and Gideon de Kock complete the lineup on drums and bass guitar respectively. All three members of the band are members of Cape Town hardcore act Yes Sir! Mister Machine among others including Like Knives, The Lottery Tickets and Antecasino. SUPERCANCER's sound is mainly influenced by an ecclectic combination of noise rock, pop-punk and 90s emo, completmented by a strong folk influence.
