Super Luckies is the performing and recording name of Steve Payne and a collaboration of some of the best working musicians to be found among the upper echelons of London’s music scene. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist from the suburbs of London, Steve excels at the piano and drums, giving him a unique percussive piano style that supports his soulful vocals. Coupled with a broad range of influences from Rock, Soul and Hip Hop, to Latin, Funk and Folk music. The Super Luckies sound is a complex mix that manages to float effortless & danceable grooves, beneath refreshing & humorous lyrics that tell tales of modern life. Steve bounces behind a piano, occasionally whipping out a trumpet, guitar or harmonica depending on the setting. A true songwriter and storyteller so seldom found in these days of instant pop and love songs. Having been likened to Madness, The Streets, Squeeze, The Blockheads and Jamie T, their sound is notoriously hard to pin down. It encompasses influences from across the spectrum yet retaining a distinctly British identity. Steve holds this band of great friends together, as their following grows, gig by gig.
