This project came into being 25 years ago. Eric Bolduc and Xavier Auclair, founding members of the band, have been blood brothers and brothers in arms since elementary school. From the playground to the stage, they grew up together, made their first steps in adulthood together and traveled all over the world together, from Europe to East Africa, with stops in the Himalayas or on the peninsulas of Eastern Canada. After their many adventures, its at the age of 16that they picked up their instruments and decided to make living out of it. In 1999, the two friends became business partners. La Girafe brouteuse, a small music studio delivering composition services for audiovisual and multimedia projects, was born. Based on this experience, they now have a new studio based at Nomad Nation; a independent artist collective in the Mile End. Now, and during the last two years, Eric and Xavier dedicate their time and energy in the design and refining of a new and pioneering ensemble. Conscious of the live music requirements and anxious to put together a closely-knit band, they didn't take recruitment lightly. François Cyr, a do-it-yourself multiinstrumentalist was the first to join. Then came Simon Dolan, an experienced bass player, and Alain Mercure, a self-taught percussion buff, to make up what is now the definitive version of Sunrise and Good People. In the next year, the group has a full agenda: studio recording, liveperformances, festivals, video clip shooting and a Canadian Tour
