Sun Kil Moon is American songwriter, musician and singer, Mark Kozelek. Amoeba is a Hungarian jazz/funk/soul trio. Together they recorded the album, Sun Kil Moon and Amoeba, which came out in September 2024. A stand-alone, non-album single, 'What The World Needs Now Is Love', followed in December. Remarkably, the album is listed on streaming platforms as Sun Kil Moon and Amoeba, with those exact words on the album sleeve. On Bandcamp, however, Obsolete Records has a version of the artwork with the words 'Sun Kil Moon featuring Amoeba' on it, while listing the album as Sun Kil Moon/Amoeba. It may be scrobbled as a Sun Kil Moon album (featuring Amoeba), or as a Sun Kil Moon and Amoeba album (like on this page). Additional information... Mark Kozelek partnered up with some of the finest Hungarian musicians since Franz Liszt (had to look that one up, didn't really know any Hungarian musicians), a jazz/funk/soul/whathaveyou trio named Amoeba. Piano, bass, guitar, drums, cicadas (seriously) with Mark on vocals, sounding as relaxed and confident as he ever has, over seven incredible tracks. The band sounds effortless, and Mark sounds re-energized, it's a gorgeous album recorded in Budapest and Törökbálint in Hungary, and given to me, to give to the world. Pressed on 180 gram black blob on clear vinyl, or, as I see it, "amoeba on a slide under a microscope" color, which I think is very apt. Limited to 500 copies.
