Sun Blood Stories are an American self-described "high desert experimental psych-fuzz" band hailing from Boise, Idaho, so named for the annual Boise phenomenon whereby the smoke of forest fires gets trapped in the valley and colours the sky pinkish-brown, transforming the low-setting sun to a eerie blood red orb. The former quintet-now-trio has been creating its brand of experimental, hard-to-categorise psychedelic music since 2011. Their music oscillates between genres from track to track - from soaring shoegaze passages, to psych-rock melodies, stoner and blues influences to progressive song structures. Their high desert rock style is a mix of harmonic sonics "distilled into delicate, but always haunting, songs. Sun Blood Stories is dreamy, aware, personal, open, fuzzed-out, and loud as fuck," says founding member Ben Kirby.
