The Suginami Children's Choir is a Japanese youth choir based in Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 1964 by the late Takashi Shimizu, the choir is best known for providing music for various popular Japanese media, such as anime songs, TV show and movie soundtracks, and commercials, and has also provided backing vocals in operas, plays, and orchestral concerts. Member ages range from toddlers to university students, though there are often age restrictions during recruitment cycles depending on which vocal ranges are most needed for the choir. Children are not required to learn how to read sheet music in order to join.
