Stoned Monkeys were a hardcore metal band from Wichtrach (small village near berne), Switzerland. They started as a student group playing mainly old rock classics around 1995. In 1996 they started to write their own songs and called themselves Stoned Monkeys ever since. They were playing a wild mixture of many different styles of metal, punk and hardcore, some tracks even feature rhymes... Influences were bands like Biohazard, Machine Head, Such A Surge, Clawfinger, Hatebreed and other similar bands... Stoned Monkeys had always been a live band, in fact the only existing record is a live record... They're approach to music was always on a low fi level which does have a certain charm however. Until around 2009 Stoned Monkeys were giving around 4-5 concerts every year. After almost 15 years the remaining members decided in early 2011 to disband to be able to pursue other projects.
