Stillbite is an American rock band from Sandwich, Illinois, formed in 2010. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Corey Dowd, guitarists Joe Duffy and Tristan Boring, bassist Cayman Joseph, and drummer CJ Grinstead. Stillbite has performed at the Sandwich High School Variety Show in 2012 and 2013, and have opened for JT Woodruff and Mark McMillon, lead singer and guitarist of the band Hawthorne Heights. Stillbite has not released an official album, but they have performed and posted demos online of various original and cover songs including a cover of “21 Guns” by Green Day and the Stillbite original song “Back Alley Heart Surgeon”. There are plans for Stillbite to release a full length concept album in summer 2013. The band was formed by guitarist Joe Duffy and bassist Cayman Joseph in 2010. The name of the band comes from the natural mineral stilbite. The name was discovered by Duffy and Joseph, as it was on a poster of different minerals in Joseph’s bedroom. This poster also displayed the mineral metallica, as the rock group Metallica is an inspiration to the band. Soon after formation, the band also included drummer Paul Lambert and guitarist Sarah Cantrell. After several practices, Lambert and Cantrell parted with the band, and current guitarist Tristan Boring joined. For the next year the band was not very active; releasing only two demos.
