Artist
Music is his passion, his life. Stevie grew up listening to and learning a wide variety of music. However, Blues, Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Funk, came natural to him playing and singing. Revered as one of the all time greats and a groove monster, especially among African-American musicians, he is highly respected, and is in consistent demand for his original brand of "riding the feel" Blues - Soul drumming, and "in the pocket" R&B/Funk drumming/singing for both stage and studio. He is also deeply steeped in Southern and Classic Rock roots. Stevie is a versatile player with an instinctive and distinctive style of drumming. In recent years, Stevie's drumming talents have been called upon by Nashville recording artists for both Traditional and New Country. In 1977, Stevie had the rare opportunity to receive a group of lessons from jazz giant, Buddy Rich in Chicago. Since the 1970s, Stevie has had the opportunity to play drums for indie and national recording artists; Daryle Singletary, Jeff Carson, Percy Sledge, Chuck Berry, Dee Clark, former Raylette-Rita Graham, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Rufus Thomas, country legend Johnny Rodriguez, Clifford Curry, Charlie McCoy, Doug Stone, Bertie Higgins ("Key Largo" fame), Teresa Farris, Jilla Web, Heaven Davis, Sammy Blue, Reddog, The Ink Spots, Ed Bruce, Razzy Bailey, Ace Cannon among others. He has also shared the stage with Leon Russell, The Gap Band, Ronnie Milsap, Con Hunley, Danielle Peck, Vern Gosdin, If, Chick Willis, Joe Sun,
