STEVEN ISSERLIS is recognised internationally as one of the leading musicians of his genenaration, providing, audiences withn a new insight into a broad range of cello repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary. The recipient of both the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards for Instrumentalist of the Year and the prestigious Piatigorsky Artists Award in 1993 - celebrating the latter with the United States premiere of John Tavener's The Protecting Veil - He performs regularly with leading orchestras and conductors throughout the world, as well as giving numerous recitals and chamber concerts. Isserlis has been the subject of several television documentaries and was also a featured soloist in British televisions's EMMY awardwinning series, Concerto ! with Michael Tilson Thomas and Dudley Moore. He plays a Guadagnini cello from c. 1745 PASCAL DEVOYON studied at the Concervatoire de Paris and the Ecole Normale de Paris. In 1974 he won second prize in the Busoni Competition in Moscow. His international career has developed rapidly, and he has performed recitals at Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. He plays regularly with international orchestras and his repertoire, as extensive as it is varied, allows him to perform such works as the premiere of Pierre Jansens's concerto La Suite en duo and the complete cycle of 32 Beethoven piano sonatas in the same season. In 1991 Devoyon was appointed as professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. Us
