Stern Meißen (formerly Stern Combo Meißen or Stern Combo Meissen) is a German rock band founded in 1964 in Meißen, East Germany. The original lineup included Martin Schreier, Norbert Jäger, and Bernd Fiedler, and the band initially performed covers of songs by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks. In the early 1970s, Thomas Kurzhals (keyboard) and Reinard Fißler (vocals) joined, forming what is regarded as the classic lineup. In 1975, the band appeared in a scene of the film "Hostess", performing alongside Nina Hagen. During this period, the band moved toward art rock, releasing the concept albums "Weißes Gold" (1978) and "Reise zum Mittelpunkt des Menschen" (1980). In the same year, the band shortened its name to Stern Meißen. Following this, the group adopted a more pop-oriented direction, particularly after IC Falkenberg joined as vocalist in 1983, replacing Fißler. Schreier remained the only founding member in the band at that time. Stern Meißen gained popularity in East Germany with this change in musical style. The group released two more albums before disbanding in 1989. The 1986–1989 lineup reunited for a tour in 1993 with Fißler participating. In 1996, the 1979 lineup (without Kramer) reunited under the name Stern Combo Meißen and performed into the early 200
