Artist
Stephen Harrison is a singer/songwriter in Scotland, UK. http://www.stephenharrisonmusic.com Born in London in 1959, early musical influences were coloured by the tastes of his six older siblings and included the music at the tail end of the sixties, including the Beatles, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Simon And Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, George Harrison and John Lennon. Aged about 15, Stephen started writing his own songs. Moving to Edinburgh, and The College Of Art in 1977 he was a founder member of the Post-Punk band called Metropak. Metropak arrived at a very unique sound with unpredictable song structures, subtle rhythms and a captivating ambiguity. The band released three singles. In 1984 Stephen formed Heyday (from Edinburgh), a band in Edinburgh with Ronnie Torrance (drums), Bill Ayton (keyboards), Davie Waddell (Bass) and Robert Russell (guitar). The band broke up in 1985 and Stephen embarked on solo musical projects and has, since 2007, been releasing material on his own label called Close Up Records UK. The latest release (2018) is a nine track album called 'It Starts With the Soul'. He is interested in strong melodies and lyrics that alternate between the personal and the universal, communicated with clarity.
