Artist
Stephanie Sayers is a singer songwriter who was born in upstate New York. She has lived in Massachusetts, New Orleans and Los Angeles. In 1995 Stephanie released 'Christmas Island', an EP that brought her to the attention of Lenny Waronker, then in the process of starting up Dreamworks Records, where she joined his stable of emerging talent, including Elliott Smith, Rufus Wainwright and Eels. In 2000, Stephanie toured with Sparklehorse on the West Coast. In 2001 she appeared on the Galaxie 500 tribute album "Snowstorm" (Elefant Records, Spain) to which she contributed the track "Spook". During the same period, Stephanie played and recorded with producer/engineer Andy Johns (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin), drummer Gary Mallaber (Van Morrison, Steve Miller Band) and Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices). Since co-writing "People Are Leaving" with Pollard for his second solo album "Waved Out" (Matador, 1998) their working relationship continued, with Stephanie serving as musical director, arranger and instrumentalist for the forthcoming rock musical 'Cleo' (2013) directed by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brokovich, Ocean's Eleven) and featuring the songs of Pollard. Stephanie is currently writing and playing in Europe. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
