1. Boston straight edge hardcore featuring members of Righteous Jams, Cold World, Mental, and Mind Eraser. 2. Step Forward was founded in 1989 in Umeå, Sweden, by Dennis Lyxzén and his friends, Toft Stade, Jens Norden and Henrik Jansson. Step Forward was one of the very first hardcore punk bands in Sweden that held on to the American straight edge lifestyle. They soon released their first demo I Am Me and in October 1990, their second demo, Does It Make a Difference. During their existence they played a handful of gigs. Though most of these gigs were in the north Sweden were they were from. Soon they started getting different opinions on what kind of songs they wanted to play. This finally came to a point from which there was no return and Step Forward called it quits. They did their last gig in December 1991. In the year of 1996, a CD with Step Forward was released on the hardcore label Desperate Fight Records. It was titled It Did Make a Difference and contained the demo-recordings mentioned before and two of their live-sets. This Swedish Hardcore/Straight Edge band is no more but the scene didn’t follow them to the grave. From the ashes of Step Forward, a new Swedish Hardcore Punk band was created, Refused. The band was formed by Dennis Lyxzén in 1992 and revolutionized hardcore punk in Sweden and around the world.
