The Prague punk band Stalin's Victims was founded around the turn of 1987/88 by a group of friends from a high school. Thanks to its provocative name, it didn't get its first gig until just before the revolution, in the autumn of 1989. A number of concerts with legends of the punk scene soon brought them into the public consciousness. The great potential, the varied mood of the songs, with sharp punk agitations alternating with post-punk dark proclamations, deserved a full-length album at that time. Unfortunately, Stalin's victims jumped before any official record was made. Their singer Filip subsequently formed the rock band Prohrála v kartách, and even later became a composer (among others Anna K., Aneta Langerová, etc.). Stalin's Victims did not remain a forgotten band, however; their recordings continued to spread among punk fans. But it is only now that the first official recording of Stalin's Victims has been released. Compiled from the best surviving period recordings, the album is a worthy reminder of this remarkable band. The just-released vinyl is sure to interest all those who have listened to the band for a long time, as well as those who are just about to discover one of the gems of the domestic punk archives.
