Ssaki is a Polish post-rock band formed in Warsaw in 1995 by singer and bassist Marcin Sienicki, drummer Arkadiusz Lerch and guitarist Krzysztof Ciepalowicz. Soon afterwards Adam Traczyk joined Ssaki as second guitarist while Krzysztof Ciepalowicz left the band in 1996 after their first studio recording. In 1998 the band recruited guitarist Lukasz Chmielewski and stayed in this line-up, with small interruptions, until its breakup in early 2000. Ssaki released three studio albums: „Hydro“ (1996), „Massa Tabulettae“ (1998) and „Astralni Boxerzy“ (2000). Though the sound of the band builds around noisy and aggressive guitar riffs, its musical style encompasses influences from punk, psychedelic rock, dub and electronic music. In addition, Marcin’s lyrics, imaginative and melodious, pointed but leaving room for interpretation, are an integral part of the band’s songs.
