Splice Girls are Mel D. & Mel Z. They take cassette tape loops of popular music and arrange them as if it were a DJ set. Their two releases so far, Splice Girls from 2014 and Spliceworld from 2017 rearrange various collections of popular music. Splice Girls (2014): a track-by-track remix of Spice Girls' debut album. Cassette tape loops quasi-beatmatched in ableton. The B-side is the same mix in reverse. many of the samples in the forward version were reversed, so the B-side reveals what those samples were. Each of the three CDs is remixed in order, taking tape loops of each song, recording them into a DAW and arranging them. A total of 363 tape loops comprise the mix.
