Artist
Spire Craines is the music of artist Richard Smyth. Born in Liverpool in 1987, Smyth began composing at the age of 11, and began recording and producing music at the age of 14. His music mixes inspiration from an enormous amount of genres, creating a seamless musical tapestry out of an expansive use of instrumentation. From the guitar and keyboard to wineglasses and electronics. Spire Craines' most recent album was predominantly written while backpacking across Europe. On this trip he recorded a vast array of samples which are present in the release; from the operatic voice of a female busker in Berlin (Four Subversive Criteria) to the sound of a thunder storm in Venice (Never Out Loud) As well as writing and recording all the music, Smyth also designs his own music software to use in his production and performance. Despite being born in Liverpool, he spent most of his early life in a remote corner of Wales where "There were very few people for miles around, and those that could be found were often on horseback, and this all seemed completely normal!" Currently, Smyth is completing a degree in Creative Music Technology in Cambridge. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
