As they effortlessly transition from moments of dreamy, shoegazing indie to blasts of ear-splitting post-rock, the intent of Perth four-piece Spilt Cities becomes unmissable: they are a band as interested in loudness as they are in melody. Formed by Shaun Rodan (vocals, guitar), Zac Ward (guitar), Mike Ewings (bass) and James Porteous (drums), Spilt Cities debuted in 2012 with the anthemic single Release (Narrow Escape), introducing their fondness for high contrast, creatively adventurous songwriting. Steadily earning their stripes as a live band, Spilt Cities released their first EP, build/rebuild later in the year - taking an ever-increasing band chemistry and fluidity, and capturing it with the bombastic production of Laurie McCallum.
