The Speedy Peones were born at the very beginning of the new millennium. Their sound has gradually changed from the hardest punk rock to a kind of magma that cannot be subject to ordinary classifications where you can easily unveil garage influences, pumped-up rock’n’roll volumes, post-rock contaminations and psycho pop infatuations. At first listen you can understand that Speedy Peones’ playlists consist of several different types of styles that avoid though the 90s and their bad taste aesthetics. They improve their technical abilities and introduce synthesizers, organs and drum machines, only-vintage devices, also peculiar to their amplifiers. Two demos, one EP, more than 200 concerts, they take part in several compilations and share the stage with legends just like Fleshtones, Rudi Protrudi, Liars. That’s their heritage before the release of Karel Thole, their latest work, co-produced by Shyrec and Tornado Ride, featuring also the Rambla Association. Karel Thole (a tribute to the famous Dutch illustrator, one of the most original science fiction artists – science fiction is the clue of Speedy’s visionary lyrics) is a funny, weird polychrome ensemble between hardcore and psychedelic hypnosis with warm buzz garage sounds.
