Speedwalker of 89' started after the break up of Kyle McCarthy's band Fnon. Kyle continued to write and play music on his own, creating acoustic songs with a melodic, storytelling-like quality to them. Speedwalker of 89's influences include artists such as The Smiths, Jeff Buckley, and American Football. Speedwalker of 89's first EP, Girls With Unusual Names, along with collections he released, Inground Swimming Pool and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, Bravo, and his latest release Bath, demonstrate the vocal capabilities and instrumental talent of Kyle McCarthy, as well as his ability to take in sounds and experiences around him and turn them into meaningful songs. Speedwalker of 89' is continuing to write new music and experiment with different production and songwriting techniques, and his forthcoming recording offers solo pieces as well as colaborative pieces. Kyle divides his time up between working on Speedwalker of 89' projects as well as playing guitar and singing for his band, Reminiscing in Tempo.
