Sparrow and the King (formerly Novosibirsk1) is a two-piece electronic outfit, mainly founded for artistic reasons. After more than 10 years playing in mainstream powerpopbands as singer, guitar- and bassplayers they took a decision to make music that differs drastically from your average radio-friendly rock. Sparrow and the King is an until now studio based project from Utrecht, The Netherlands. Influences include electronic music, noise, (post)rock and classical music. Samples of all sorts are used, including their own voices, guitar-recordings and moviesamples. They started out in december 2010 under this moniker, after two years playing together in electronic form, going by the name 'Novosibirsk1'. Sparrow and the King's name is derived from a lost fairytale by the Grimm Brothers. It was given this name coz' their former name, Novosibirsk1, was to difficult to market. Members: Erik Wouda Ratzz The members also played together in powerpopbands Donau and No Toys Included, where they played guitars a.o.
