The story of Sparky… St. Petersburg's Sparky's Nightmare got their name from drummer Hugh T. Williams glitter-laden devil painting on his vintage kick drum head. It was suggested by guitarist Sam Bond that Hugh's pop-art depiction of the dark one looked like he was in a bad dream sequence. Sparky's Nightmare was born. Here's how it happened… The first incarnation of Sparky's Nightmare came about for a reason. Exene Cervenka (of X fame) was coming to town and a local promoter named Dave had asked vocalist Natty Moss Bond if she'd like to open the show for her hero. Natty threw together a lineup to do the show. Without getting too bogged-down in details, Sparky's Nightmare brings together a who's-who of Tampa Bay area musicians. Natty Moss Bond and Sam Bond once made up the core of Multi Color House, a veteran Bay area folky-rock band which toured extensively and wound up recording a record for Atlanta's DB Records. Natty's strong voice and Sam's jangely guitar painted a nice picture. A timeless team, Natty and Sam continued to work together performing Sam's captivating songs after the break-up of Multi Color House. Enter Drummer Hugh T. Williams. Hugh was a hard drinkin', fun lovin' "heavy" punk rocker who had been beating the crap out of the drums for legendary Tampa band Voodoo Idols as well as Barons of Love and the Hexbreakers. Natty frequently sang with the Voodoo Idols creating a lasting friendship with Hugh. His straight-ahead frantic rock style created an edgy energ
