Spangle call Lilli line (スパングル・コール・リリ・ライン) is a Japanese post-rock/downtempo/electronica band formed in 1998 in Shimokitazawa. Members: ** Vocals: 大坪加奈 (Kana Otsubo; born August 22, 1974) ** Guitar: 藤枝憲 (Ken Fujieda; born January 21, 1974) ** Guitar: 笹原清明 (Kiyoaki Sasahara; born April 15, 1975) Ex members: ** Drums: 椛沢信之 (Nobuyuki Kabasawa; born September 8, 1974; left the band in 2003) History: The band is known for the vocals of Kana Otsubo, often described as “husky and somewhat languid,” with a “floating, airy feeling” and a “beautiful-melody female vocal” style. Their sound is characterized as soft and fresh, retaining a sense of pop even within post-rock. The lyrics avoid straightforward, conventional phrasing and instead use abstract language. Formed in 1998 in Shimokitazawa District, Tokyo, Japan, Spangle call Lilli line consist of three people: Kana Otsubo, Ken Fujieda and Kiyosaki Sasahara. In addition to Spangle call Lilli line, each member has been actively working for various side projects in and outside of Japan. Kana Otsubo (vocal) works for her own solo project as NINI TOUNUMA while Ken Fujieda and Kiyosaki Sasahara work as a unit, 点と線 - TEN TO SEN (DOT & LINE) , and three of them collaborate with other artists locally and outside of Japan. Spangle call Lilli line's beginnings trace back to Otsubo and Fujieda, friends from art school, who began playing together in December of 1998. Sasahara and drummer Kabasawa, also friends from university, joined i
