There are two bands called Southern Belle Southern Belle (from Boston / NY) http://www.myspace.com/whatissouthernbelle The standard ‘band interview’ questions that gush from the pages of something like Teen Beat need only apply for a short while here, as we introduce you to Southern Belle, the project of one Isom Innis. Favorite albums, dream musicians and flawless festival lineups sure, but heartthrob-y shirtless photos or perfect date-nights, not so much I can assure you. Aspirations of playing Glasto alongside “any members of Fleetwood Mac or David Byrne,” being straight up depressed when Nine Inch Nails hung up their touring towel, and accentuating his dream remixer (Soulwax) with not one, not two, but three exclamation points, lead us to believe that Innis and the Southern Belle project (him and three others) are more than just looking to make a quick buck on this whole electro-house thing the kids are day-glo fist-pumping to these days. Innis opts for aptitude over panache, when he (pretty simply) states his plan for SB: “my mental picture was to take pop music, play it over electro, then smear shoegazey noise-guitar all over it.
