South Swell Syndicate is a modern reggae surf rock group created by southern California native Mick Attardo in Long Beach California. After sitting on several original songs he had written a decade ago, at the beginning of 2024 he reached out to Lewis Richards at 17th St. Recording Studio to see about recording a few of them. After hearing acoustic renditions of the songs, Richards suggested they recruit some known local artists to assist including legendary keyboardist Ronnie King, Jamey "Zeb" Dekofsky drummer of Tribal Seeds, and saxophonist Eric Hirschhorn of Rebelution. After a few sessions throughout January to March they finished four songs and Mick began releasing them in May under the name South Swell Syndicate in reference to his love for surfing. After the songs quickly began receiving praise and a demand for more, Mick was inspired to write more songs with plans to record a full length album slated for the summer of 2025.
