Sounds of Kolachi (SOK) is a multi genre musical ensemble formed in 2014 by Ahsan Bari Music. The ensemble hails from Karachi, Pakistan, and to date has collaborated with over forty-five national and international artists. As the sound and story evolves, SOK which was popularly perceived as a Sufi Rock ensemble, is now best defined as one that is invested in progressive world music, with a special focus of storytelling, multiple languages, diverse musical styles and instruments. The core members include, Ahsan Bari, Waqas Husain and Gul Muhammad. SOK features a 10 person live line-up as well as studio explorations of new music which are produced in collaboration with multi-genre artists of diverse cultural ethnicities. In 2017 SOK released its first album 'Elhaam' which is available for public listening on popular South Asian music streaming spaces; Patari and Saavn, this album has been produced at Digital Fidelity Studios by Mekaal Hassan, and Prodigy Arts Studio. Another milestone for 2017 is the Centrestage tour of the US, with a month long showcase of live shows all across the country; aimed at introducing new music from Pakistan to American audiences and to the South Asian diaspora.
