Sounds Like Sunset's music is a mix of simple songs taken on sort of a wild ride - freely moving in directions led by huge guitars and feedback, and drawing on influences such as BailterSpace, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and the gloomier side of The Beach Boys in equal measure. The band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1997 with David Challinor (vocals, guitar), David Hobson (bass) and Rohan Geddes (drums). Andrew Fevre joined the band on keyboards & guitar soon after, and the band quickly gained a reputation around town for the sonic assault of their early live shows - mostly extended feedback-laden jams reminiscent of Spacemen3, Yo La Tengo and Flying Saucer Attack. More 'structured' songs eventually found their way onto the group's setlists, and various home-made demo cassettes started to circulate around the scene in 1998. By 1999 the band's first official release was the track "before it blows", a split 7" released through the Quietly Suburban label with LA-based noise pop band The Lassie Foundation contributing their track 'promise ring' to the other side. The band spent much of 1999 and 2000 touring and recording, and the departure of founding member Rohan Geddes midway through 2000 made way for Matt Bonson to join on drums. The band signed a contract with Modular Recordings later that same year, and the band's debut album "Saturdays" appeared in 2001 - a sort of mix-tape of various studio sessions and 4-track noise experimentation that was both l
