Artist
Sounds Like Braille is an interesting quintet consisting of two basses, two drummers, and one guitar player (with a distant sax on a few brief cuts). Often described as a cross between King Crimson and Don Caballero, they do fall into the math rock milieu, but there is a tunefulness and musical accessibility at work that really sets them apart. Interlocking parts, odd meters, and polyrhythms run rampant throughout, but it's all in service to the songs, not simply an exercise as with so many other so-called math rockers. Some songs flat-out rock, but Sounds Like Braille have their more introspective moments as well, even incorporating acoustic guitar in some spots (not a very math rocky touch)!
