Sonic Surf City is a bubblegum surf punk band formed in Sweden 1988. They recorded three albums, several EP's and singles, full of turbo-charged beach pop played at neck-breaking speed with upfront guitars and boy/girl vocals, with a little warm, breezy sunshine pop thrown in for good measure. Their records were originally only released in Sweden, and are now a pretty hard find. With a fun-is-first attitude and their influences on their sleeve (most notably 60's vocal surf, bubblegum and the Ramones), SSC neverthless succeded in writing enthusiastic, infectious music that today sounds as fresh as when it was released. Though they disbanded in 1997, the band were invited to play the Wipe Out Weekend Festival in Spain 2004 (which they did), and in 2009 they got back together again.
