Something is Real is an indie musician who has been making music since roughly 2016. They would rise to fame in 2023 on YouTube after posting a video titled "Nirvana's Nevermind but with the SM64 soundfont", an entirely remade version of Nevermind done with the soundfont from the 1996 video game Super Mario 64. The original video has since reached over 1 million views, and has over 102 thousand likes as of March 31, 2023. Nevermind wasn't their only SM64 soundfont cover, either. In Utero would receive the same makeover as Nevermind, being entirely redone with said soundfont. Other covers done in this style include Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes and Everlong by Foo Fighters.
