Soltype began making music in 1998 with his father's old JVC synthesizer, recording a few songs on cassette tapes before moving on to a computer a few years later. His early material was mosty simple dance-oriented music relying heavily on sampled loops, but over the years he developed a more experimental sound with influences from artists such as Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin and The Knife. Various albums and EPs have been released as free downloads under the aliases Sugarush, Ubahn and Cvel. In 2003 the track "Grain" was featured on Soulseek Records' "Cen Art", a compilation of downtempo/ambient tracks. Another album and an EP were released during 2005 and 2006 before taking a break from music. In 2009 the new album "Hibernation" was released.
