Sophia Regina Allison (born May 27, 1997), known professionally as Soccer Mommy, is an American singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. She has released four studio albums, with her most recent, "Evergreen," released on October 25, 2024. Allison was born in Zürich, Switzerland, to Michelle, an elementary school teacher, and John Allison, a neuroscientist. Her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, when she was a toddler. She attended Nashville School of the Arts, where she studied guitar and participated in the school's swing band. Allison began playing guitar at the age of six and started creating her own music early on. She has cited Avril Lavigne's 2004 album "Under My Skin" as the first album she ever owned. In 2015, she began posting home-recorded songs on Bandcamp under the name Soccer Mommy. She enrolled at New York University, studying music business and English at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. During her time in college, she performed her first live show as Soccer Mommy at the Silent Barn in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and subsequently signed a recording contract with Fat Possum Records. She left college after two years in 2017 to focus on her music career in Nashville. Allison's first album as Soccer Mommy, "For Young Hearts," was released in 2016 on Orchid Tapes.
