That beacon of light is the band of brothers known as Smoke and Mirrors. In 2007, during a typical harsh Erie, Pa winter, five hardcore punk veterans of the Lake Effect hardcore scene united to form a not so typical band now known as Smoke and Mirrors. Boasting a combined dedication of nearly 100 years to the Erie hardcore punk music scene and serving time in such bands as Brothers Keeper, Shockwave, and Problem Solver Revolver, S&M formed a band with hardcore music pouring through its veins. Lead by Dave Vogt (vocals) and backed by EMS (bass/vocals), Jon Molar (guitar), Joe Nolan (guitar), and Pat Bolla (drums) S&M have taken Erie, Pa and the surrounding areas by storm with a groovy and energetic sound filled with passion and heart. Smoke and Mirrors started out fast in 2007, recording six songs at More Sound in Rochester, NY in early 2008 and knocking out another 3 tracks in late 2008, all of which received a great response throughout the local area. The band was also mentioned and photographed in an issue of nationally seen heavy music magazine Revolver before they had even played a show!
